Angela R. Arnett MEMORIAL Scholarship

Angela R. Arnett
Mashing Melanoma Memorial Scholarships

Our mission is to bring awareness of Melanoma and skin cancer in memory of Angela Renee Arnett and those who have battled or are still battling cancer.

The "Diamond" memorial scholarship (2014-present) was established to support graduating seniors at Portsmouth West High School who have played baseball or softball for at least two years, maintained a 2.5 or greater GPA on a 4.0 scale, taken the ACT, and plans to attend a state approved institution for higher education. Applicants must complete a form, provide a transcript of high school courses and ACT scores, submit three letters of recommendation, and submit a 250-500 word essay detailing their goals and the qualities that he or she feel make them deserving of this award. Applications are submitted to the PWHS Guidance Department. Selections are made by a committee of members not associated with the Washington-Nile Local School District. Recipients are announced at the annual PWHS Scholarship Banquet. This award was established in 2014 and has assisted 12 athletes in their endeavor to receive higher education.

The "Entertainer" award (2017-2019) was established to support graduating seniors at Portsmouth West High School who have participated in band or choir for four years, who has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, has taken the ACT, and plans to attend a state approved institution for higher education.
